Creative Sewing Center has been in business for 13 years in San Antonio, Texas. It has evolved from a full line fabric store with sewing machines, classes and a service center over a period of 27 years into an online quilting fabric with sewing machine accessories. We still have the largest independent brick and mortar quilt fabric store in Texas with a large selection of books, patterns and kits that reflect the best quilting fabric. The store sells and services Bernina, Brother and Handiquilter machines. The machines are available to "Test Drive" from 9:30-6:00 on Monday thru Saturday.
Come in and see the New BERNINA 830E, a 12" arm for quilting and embroidery. CSC carries the entire line of BERNINA machines and has been a Century Club member for 15 years. We support our customers with the highest level education possible including Mastery classes for machines, embroidery, software, sergers and webinars to enhance both embroidery and software education.
We have the Quatro 6000 D from Brother for perfect embroidery placement and all your decorative sewing needs. CSC also stocks the entire line of independant Brother dealer machines and offers service on all Brother sewing machines as a Brother Authorized Service Center.
Terry Soll is the owner who is supported in business by her husband, Vince and many wonderful employees. Terry is an avid quilter, pattern designer and fabric artist. Her garments, quilts and creativity can be seen all over the store. Terry is one of the few people who actually wear their creations on a daily basis. She hopes to inspire her customers to try something new even if it is just a small portion of what they see. Everyone can be creative! Classes are available in many areas of sewing and quilting.
I started quilting when my children were quite young. Cristen, age 5 and Daxs, age 3. It was a necessity- they had to have covers, we lived in South Dakota. The first quilts were old blankets covered with new fabric scrapes and tied with yarn to hold the insides in one spot. I had lots of fabric scrapes, usually 1/2 to 1 yard because my parents had a fabric store and they had remnants. Of course, in those days remnants could be linen, velvet, broadcloth, silk, wool, corduroy, but very little 100% cotton. The covers were amazing. My Bernina sewing machine did not have fancy stitches, but it sewed through anything. The children and my watercolor painting career kept me from becoming the gentlewoman who could do crazy quilting stitches by hand.
When I really began the quilting thing, I already had a fabric store in Texas, 3 pre-teen children, and a nanny that was 19 years old. Our life was hectic and the rules were kind of grey. After the children grew up, things became more structured and I found quilting was more exact. Now I find myself painting with fabric and exploring color combinations with patches of prints in landscapes, applique, bargello and $5.00 Quilts. I am so lucky that my customer enjoys participating in these adventures. They are the support vessel for my creative juices. I take lots of wrong turns but through the creative process have pretty much managed to salvage all my projects.
"There are no mistakes only opportunities to be creative."
